Open House 2016 & Zootopia thoughts

Yesterday was our Open House held by the ND/HRM/TM program and also our College Days. Those events lasted for 3 days and it started on Monday.

It was my first time to attend an open house (since I usually just stay at home because it's not really required to attend). I enjoyed the events, namely; the mocktail competition and the dessert buffet. I really looked forward to the latter since I was informed that we could EAT the food once the judging was finished. It was almost around 1 in the afternoon but it was worth the wait, I get to eat something from each table and I was full by the end of the day. Oh and before I forget, the ND team mostly placed during the events. And we also won the dessert buffet.

Here's our entry:

Deadpool (2016) thoughts

My friend and I watched Deadpool last Sunday and these are my thoughts. Now, I haven't read any of the comics but I'm still a fan, thanks to tumblr. All I know is that Deadpool or Wade Wilson is a fourth-wall breaking merc with a mouth, can regenerate quickly and good at combat.

I as much as possible avoided going to tumblr for a week, avoided watching any youtube reviews with spoilers because I was really looking forward to this movie. I also think that Ryan Reynolds is an awesome pick for Deadpool. He was born to play Deadpool.

I have to say that it surpassed my expectations. The movie was funny, filled with awesome action scenes. Right from the very first scene, it established itself pretty quickly. I won't spoil and you have to watch it for yourself. I won't spoil anything, all I can say is that you have to see this movie and it is definitely worth your time.

Saponification experiment and Bad Luck

Today during our lab, we performed two experiments; "The Chemistry of Milk" & "Saponification".
We split into two groups, one working with the milk and the other is in charge of making the soap. I got grouped into making the soap.

The soap-making was a bit tiring as you need to constantly stir the mixture in the evaporating dish until a lump of solid is formed. My partner and I decided to take turns stirring so when she was doing that, I decided to wash the materials that we used so that there would be no hassle in returning the materials later. Now as I was cleaning the graduated cylinder, the tissue got stuck at the bottom so I put water to remove it easily. I used the stirring rod to get the tissue out since it was long. But then as I was cleaning it, the rod broke and so I have to pay for something......AGAIN. You see, last last week, I broke a test tube when I was cleaning it. Good thing it didn't cost much. As I was contemplating on why the world hates me so much right now this year 2016, I thought that it was better that the rod broke instead of the graduated cylinder. Even though it was only 10 mL, it costs Php300.00!!!

As a last note, I was in shock last Thursday when I found out that Sir Alan Rickman is dead. I loved him as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series. Actually, he's my favorite character in the said series. I hope that he may find peace wherever he is right now. And a big thank you to you sir for making my childhood memorable!

My 2015 year end review

So these are my thoughts with 2015.

These are the things that have happened to me this year:

-This year is the 1st time that I was made a leader in our laboratory (though we do take turns each term), so during prelims I volunteered as the leader since I don't want to be stuck with difficult experiments as we go on.

-I know I'm part of the minority here but: I enjoyed/loved Ant Man more than the Avengers: Age of Ultron. For me, AoU was just all over the place. And I can't stand, I repeat, I CAN'T STAND the fuckery that is BruceNat (I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, even my friends doesn't like it!). It's just so out of the blue and unnecessary, and let me tell you that Clint and Natasha have MORE chemistry than she has with Bruce( no, I don't hate Bruce). Those little scenes she has with Clint during the 1st clearly show how much they care about each other. You would think that it would be logical to progress their relationship into a romantic one but NOOOOOO. You have to shoehorn that stupid plot device that Clint is married just so we can have that farm. I've read a lot of tumblr posts where it could be handled properly! I better stop now or this will turn into a rant.

In Ant Man, they gave me characters that I could truly care and relate to, like Scott Lang. And then there's his adorable daughter Cassie, his pals. So that's that, moving on.

-Also, there's a lot of laboratory equipments that has been broken. Ranging from test tubes to glass rods. This is also the first time I get to experience the agonizing waiting for that broken material to be replaced or else I won't be able to take the exam. I even have a reminder for that accident!

-This year is the first time I ever attended a debut party, my sister and my friend's.

-This is the first time I've ever watched a Star Wars film. You see there was a smart promo and my mother got free Star Wars: A Force Awaken seats. I watched it with my brother and it was pretty fun. I cried during some scenes(the freaking start where the storm troopers were murdering those species in Jakku). Apart from that, we also have free food and we got awesome seats!

-So yesterday, my bestfriend and I were chatting and she called me her BESTFRIEND. I can't tell you how happy I was! I've always regarded her as my bestfriend but being acknowledged by your bestfriend as such is something new for me. I am so grateful to have met and known her. I truly am thankful for such a great friend.

-Tonight, my sister and I were assigned to grill the fish. It took us hours to finish it and our mother was also questioning us why it was taking so long. And then she told us that since the fish is covered with foil, the fish wouldn't blacken and so we were just left dumbfounded. So all this time, the fish could have been cooked without it even changing its skin color.

These are the few things that happened during this year and I'm looking forward to 2016!

UIC Feast Day '15

I just got home after the first half of our school's feast day. This is actually the first time where I actually attended the celebration held in the annex campus after the mass. I got to hang out with my friend at their after the mass. The original plan was just to change clothes but we ended up watching television. We then decided to finish the movie and then go back to school but sadly, that didn't happen. There was a blackout and it lasts 2 hours ao we never got to finish the movie (even though we're so close!)

When we got back to school, it was time for lunch. Each program has a booth and different food to offer. I quickly got in line to get ice cream (it was hot okay). We then got in line for the MLS booth, they were preparing a chocolate fountain and I saw a LOT of marshmallows and other desserts that I can't name. I also got a banana and palabok! It was truly a fun experience going from one booth to the other and see the designs of said booth and also their food. After that,t he two of us went to the fourth floor in order to relax and catch some zzz's. The organizers prepared games in order for us to enjoy and it was fun watching people catch an egg.

I had a great time today (though I'm still sleepy for waking up too early just to log-in).

BioChem lab activity 01

We had our first lab activity in BiocChem and boy was it tiring. Before I went to the 4th floor for our lab, I decided to stop first at the bookstore and buy the lab manual. Luckily, there were only few people so I was able to buy the said manual along with a few of my classmates. After that detour, I knew that I'm going to be a little late for the activity, but when I got there, our teacher was still writing on the board about the steps that we should follow in order to perform the activity at hand.

Of course it took time when the assigned group was handing out the lab equipment's to be used. But what was surprising was that when our teacher told us to wash equipment's before starting the activity. From our experience, we only wash the apparatus when e are done with the experiment. There were also a lot of complications during the activity that delayed our experiment. We decided to split the load in order to finish faster. As my partner and I are about to start, we found that out that there's no more methylene blue. While waiting for it to be replenished, we agreed to move on to the next activity......only to find out that the gelatin is not yet available!

In the end, we managed to finish most of the task but my feet were already hurting so bad due to standing for 3 hours! Adding to that is the fact that I'm hungry ( I'm not the only one tho) around the time that we're done ( around 11:30).

We did the adsorption activity and here's a pic of it:

BioChem & Spectre

The first week back to school after sembreak was.....meh. But the weekend definitely made up for it!

As usual, we didn't really have a proper class except for one (curse you BioChem!). The teachers usually just give activities and give grading system and rules in the class. To be honest, I'm looking forward to the BioChem lab cause we didn't get to perform ANY lab activity in Human Anatomy. The moment our teacher said that she's the one going to pick our groups for the lab, I mentally panicked. I don't have a lot of close friends in our class and my luck ran out when I wasn't in their group. But on the plus side, I got grouped with one of the smartest person in our class ( and he's also a DL!!!) And we also get to take turns being a leader of the group per term except for one person who's gonna be the secretary. Did I mention that there's only FOUR people in each group?!

Movie time! )

Crimson Peak thoughts

I have been looking forward to watching this when I found out that Tom Hiddleston is gonna be in it. And I gotta say, I liked it.

Just a bit of a background, I saw this with a classmate of mine. We were planning on where to buy pig brain, nose and mouth along with the brains of goat and cow. It was a good thing that it was available on Bangkerohan or else we're screwed. So then after telling the vendor that we would go back on Tuesday to get it, our group split but then my classmate wanted to go hang out in the mall and so I asked her if she wanted to watch the movie with me and she said yes.

It's a gothic romance with a bit of mystery. The romance between Baronet Thomas Sharpe ( oh yes, I memorized Tom's name in the movie) and Edith worked for me. When he was courting her I fell in love with him as well ( I mean who wouldn't???). I really liked when they danced the waltz with that candle! Like damnnnnn I wanna dance with him as well! And then there's a scene which I wasn't expecting, that is the sex scene. Boy oh boy was I surprised but in a good way! I got to see Tom's butt and it is glorious! My classmate and I were squealing whenever something romantic happened between Thomas and Edith!

I wasn't expecting for the movie to be gore-y but it did. It was cringing when the bathroom scene happened. The final act did get bloody and sad but I enjoyed the movie over all.

Mock job interview= DONE

Last week, Thursday, we finally did what I was dreading the most this finals....the MOCK JOB INTERVIEW!

And I gotta say, it was just fine to be honest. I was part of the second batch and was the first one to be interviewed. I was polite and all and I stuttered a bit when answering but I think I did fine. I mean, I was able to answer the that counts as something right? After that event, I happily went out the room as it was finally over. I AM SO DONE WITH YOU, ENGLISH 5!

So this week, I think that I'm gonna focus on finishing my clearance. Ughhhhhh what college has a freaking clearance?!

Intramurals 2015

So our Intramurals just ended.

Honestly, I really liked our intrams this year. First off, I spend it with my friends unlike last year were I was busy with my staff responsibilities. And second, I had an event (even though I lost....)

This year, each program has a mascot! I took a picture even though it's not that good, but still...they were dancing

As usual, they were playing movies in the AVR, so I took that opportunity to sleep in said room in the back. It's such a waste not to utilize that time as some people were also sleeping, also the room has an aircon....

As I said earlier, I had an event and it's scrabble. Seriously, my head hurts after playing! It was a nice experience to play an event for a change.

Also, they changed the log-in log-out system this year. Instead of having it four time s a day, they made it two times so it's less of a hassle compared to the previous years.

That's pretty much what happened this week.

So, our Foods midterm grade has been released and I fucking passed!!! Not just pass (like 75), nope it was fucking 84!!!

This midterm was really putting a lot of pressure on me because I have A LOT to make up for my prelim grade that is 72. Yep, I didn't even made it to the passing grade like 75. And so I did my best during quizzes. I aim to get a passing on all my quizzes (sadly, that didn't happen, I failed one, but still....) And I did pass most of it and also my exam results were high so I thought that maybe I could get like a 75 or 79. I wasn't expecting an 84 though!

I'm just really thrilled that I managed to make a comeback, especially during midterms! We had like 12 topics and boy was it confusing! But I managed to pull through and it brings me great joy to know that I passed on my major.

A Great Comeback

Hey, I'm back! College has been keeping me busy for the past few weeks but I'm still here!

Examinations and projects have been driving me crazy!!! Last week was our exam and so I've been feeling nervous about my score in Foods (my major). Not the bad kind of nervous but a good one. Cause I'm confident with most of my answers unlike the prelims exams which I flunked so hard.

Today we just finished checking our test papers in Foods-lec and I'm proud to say that I passed with flying colors! Like I was only hoping to get 60 out of a 100 (we are 60-base now so it's very difficult just to get a 60!) and my score was 70! YEAH, SUCK ON THAT 38 over a 100!

That's pretty much it. I was so happy with the outcome and I just wanna write about it!

Ant Man thoughts

So yesterday, my family and I watched Ant Man and I really liked it. I wasn't expecting anything grand, I just expected a fun movie and that's that. But as usual, I enjoyed it more than from what I expected. I went to check tumblr if they found the movie satisfying like I did and their reactions were mixed. As I browsed through the tags, I'm glad to find that they liked the movie. And there are those who didn't like it at all.

And the haters gonna hate hate hate )

Well exams are over (at least the difficult ones are)!

So for the past weeks I've been feeling sick and we did some cooking in Foods (finally!) We made fresh lumpia and it's delicious!
Here's a pic:
fresh lumpia

And last week we made yema! I'm loving this course so far (the Foods lab that is)

That's pretty much what happened this past weeks.

Week Full of Events

My week started with me not being able to attend my Human Anatomy lecture class. It was Monday, so of course it's difficult to find available jeepneys to ride. I'm not stupid so I left the earlier than my usual time. When I reached the kanto, there were already a lot of people gathering the area. It was almost 8:00 and my class is at 8:30, I decided to just be absent in my class. Our teacher doesn't really check the attendance that often so I just hoped that she didn't.

Tuesday came and I'm dreading it already. Today is the day hat we're gonna do the octaquaint for English 5. You are going to introduce your partner and vice versa. I'm not fond of speaking in front of a class and I really not looking forward to it. We should memorize our piece and we are graded. The activity is 25 points.
It's time to face the music and I think that I did well. It was proven true as we were handed back our paper and I got 22! I was really shocked! I was expecting to get like a passing score and I got more that I asked for! Isn't it great?! I was on cloud nine at that moment.

to be continued.. )

Jurassic World

My friends and I watched Jurassic World yesterday and it's a very fun experience!
Even though my day had a rough start (my mother forget her phone and asked me to deliver it resulting in me being late for our movie)
It turned out well in the end.

We decided to just watch it at 3:30. As we were planning to buy our tickets, we were shocked to know that it's only in 3D. We debated whether or not we should just watch it in red carpet (which costs Php 200) and we settled with just watching it in another mall.

But alas, there was another minor setback! (dammit!) Again, as we were buying our tickets, we debated on which seats should we take. It was a full house and the only ones available are on the first row in the center, the second row at the right side and the second row of the left side. We then decided to pick the center seats but we were already too late (why world why???), a group of people already took those so we settled with the seats on the right side.

Since there's still a lot of time before the film starts, we stayed in the foodcourt and played charades. We were laughing so hard when one of my friends couldn't "pass" properly to the next question. I also have my fair share of fails. The category was heroes/villains and when I saw the answer I saw it as "Mary" and so I said that its the mother of Jesus but the answer is actually "Marv" (dammit bad eyesight!)

When we saw our seats, we know that we were doomed. It was slanted so of course we will have a hard time watching the movie. But we came up with a brilliant scheme. We adjusted the arm rest so that we can at least squeeze in with each other and somehow make the movie watchable. And it turned out okay (a little bit?). Our butts hurt and also our necks from looking up at the large screen. We were giving side comments throughout the movie but no one seemed to mind as there were also giving theirs. Most of the time we were just that humans are just stupid and shouldn't mess with the dinosaurs. Also there was one character that we disliked so much we just kept hoping that he would die already (which he did, mwahahahhahaha!)

Overall it's a fun experience and hopefully we would hang out again. There's Ant Man this July sooo..... :3

Back to school-week one

The first week of school is done! It was quite uneventful. I only met like 3 teachers this week. That is of course to be expected since its still the first week. The teachers are busy with the freshman orientation along with the student officers.

We did however started our class in Theo 5 right away. The usual setting is usually a self-introduction if the teacher is new then followed by the grading system and the requirements. Well, we skipped those and did a group activity instead. However, we did the introduction and grading system in Education. Our teacher also asked us a favor if we could only have 1 meeting in a week instead of 2 and of course we agreed. But instead of finishing the class at 7:00 pm it will be moved to 8:30 pm instead or earlier than that if possible.

Ugh, thinking about my crappy schedule brings my mood down. I have a lot of gaps in my schedule! Like I have one class in the morning and the next is at 5:30 pm and it ends at 8:30 pm! We haven't actually started our class yet I feel tired already.

A very crappy schedule

So....just finished enrolling yesterday.
And I gotta say the it was pretty fast compared to my sister's.
But there was a very big drawback.
I only have like 5 subjects but two of them involves a lab and there lies the problem.
I don't mind that Food-lab is 9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon.
NOOOOOOO the problem is after that class I have 2 more subjects after that and will finish at 7:30 in the night. There's also the Human Anatomy-lab that finishes at 8:30 night...
The thing is that our house is far from my school and it's hard to find a jeepney that is not full of people.
I can already tell that this is going to be a stressful and a tiring year already.

This is a little update and hoping to be back soon.

Summer class is OVER!

Finally my summer class is over! t just ended this Thursday. And of course English 4 focuses on public speaking and speech....we have to do that as our final examination. Our teacher is expecting too much from us because we're the MLS2-A.

We're divided into five groups and we're assigned into different parts. All of us need to do the Desedirata. I was assigned with the preaching. And although I forgot some lines, I didn't stutter and kept repeating the word that I stopped with. Instead, I paused and gathered myself and then continued with my part. All of us got a good score and never below 40!

To be honest, I'm glad that this is over and I could spend my summer, whatever little of it is left, to sleep and maybe read some fics and watch some anime and tv shows. I've made new friends in the short amount of time. The next time we see each other is probably during the Intramurals.
