Acquaintance Party

frappeissuAh, it's that time of the year again. One of the things that I dread most: THE ACQUAINTANCE PARTY.
Let me be honest: I don't like parties. I don't like things that involves socializing ( unless it's an Arashi concert or Comic Con). I'm not really good at crowds. I'm fine if it's just my friends but a whole lot of people: NOPE.
So, every acquaintance party has a theme and ours is Hunger Games. They find it very fitting with our program the ND/HRM/TM. We are supposed to dress up like the characters from said theme. Being a lazy person that I am. I just wore a black shirt,pants,boots and I asked my sister to braid my hair. There were only a few people who were around when I got to the gym and most of the attendees were from my course (which I'm very proud of). The event started at around 5 pm. They gave speeches and ended it with a "May the odds be ever in your favor." My friend and I were hungry at that point and it's just 5! It was a good thing that they decided to have our dinner at 6 which I'm grateful for. It was the usual: pansit,fish fillet,chicken,rice,gulaman and soft drinks.
After our dinner we have the different events that some of us participated. First up is the game were you have to build the tallest building of sorts using only spaghetti and a yarn. The winning group were given gift certificates from Krispy Kreme. It was then followed by the marshmallow eating contest. They picked out guys and gave them a necklace with marshmallow. The also picked the ones who are going to eat it. I was hoping that I wouldn't get chosen cause it was very embarrassing, a lot of people were watching! Next is the flair tending. It was very entertaining to watch. Though the bottle and the cups sometimes fall to the ground, I know that it takes practice just to do that stunt. We concluded the night with a speech from our dean followed by fire dancing.
Comparing it to my previous experience, this year's acquaintance is enjoyable unlike from my previous course. I finished it until the end. I just hope that they will pick an enjoyable theme for the next.
